The Tribune Tower, one of Chicago’s most treasured landmarks, is located near the junction of the Chicago River and upper Michigan Avenue. As the historic building was converted into luxury condominiums, the frontage of the original printing plant was redeveloped into flagship retail and boutique spaces, activating and reimagining the adjacent 3-acre pedestrian thoroughfare – Pioneer Court – into a vibrant gathering space in the heart of the city.
The design features a formal promenade that bisects the site and is surrounded by raised planters with lush, four-season plantings. A lawn and terraced seating areas provide flexibility and opportunities for residents and visitors to pass through, linger, and enjoy.
