Midway Plaisance Park Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Yesterday, we joined the Chicago Park District to celebrate the opening of Chicago's first truly universally inclusive play space, Midway Plaisance Park. Located across Stony Island from the new Obama Presidential Center, this new play space along the historic Midway Plaisance was designed to welcome all visitors, creating opportunities for everyone to play, explore, connect, and belong.

The play space is organized around three levels of challenge: universally attainable, moderated challenge, and testing your limits, allowing visitors to choose the experience that best suits their comfort level and abilities. These paths connect at three shared zones featuring an interactive natural water play area, a picnic zone, and a musical play area, while five sensory nooks throughout provide both multi-sensory experiences and quieter spaces for respite.
