On January 31st, Principal Rob Reuland will speak at the IAPD/IPRA Soaring to New Heights Conference alongside Doug Anderson, Partner at LCM Architects.

Their session, Leveraging OSLAD for Inclusive, Future-Ready Parks, will explore how recent changes to Illinois law (House Bill 1788) and updates to OSLAD grant scoring are prompting communities to move beyond basic ADA compliance toward parks that are truly inclusive. Designed for park planners, grant writers, and local leaders, the session will offer practical guidance for navigating these changes and responding effectively.

Attendees will learn how HB1788 may shape future park design, how OSLAD is evolving to prioritize universal design, and strategies to meet, and exceed, new expectations. Through real-world examples from Illinois and beyond, presenters will highlight inclusive design solutions ranging from cost-effective sensory elements to larger intergenerational playgrounds. The session will also provide insight into strengthening grant applications by aligning with legislative priorities and centering the needs of people with disabilities, neurodivergent users, and older adults.
