The McKinley Park Community Play Garden reinvents a previously underutilized pocket park adjacent to the McKinley Park Library into an engaging and innovative nature play garden. The garden, designed in collaboration with the community, utilizes existing mature trees on site to incorporate creative play elements, such as a “forest climbing zone" with nests, bat houses, and bird homes, tree climbers, stump obstacles, a water runnel, multi-use stage area, fortress and flag area, “Shipwreck Gravel Pit,” prairie maze, barefoot walk, and large building area.
