site recently worked with the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority (MPEA) on multiple redevelopment projects for the new McCormick Square – located between the South Loop, Chinatown, Prairie District, and Bronzeville, adjacent to the McCormick Place convention center. As part of the development of the Wintrust Arena, a 3,000 square-foot multi-purpose event center that is home to DePaul University’s basketball teams and the new Marriott Marquis Hotel, the new 0.5 acre Prairie District Pocket Park provides much-needed play and recreational space for the neighborhood. The Prairie Avenue Shared Street, which connects the Wintrust Arena, Marriot Marquis Hotel, and the Prairie District Park - is the second shared street in the City of Chicago and serves as an important pedestrian-oriented amenity to the entire McCormick Place development. Nearby, the outdoor dining plaza at the Hyatt Regency hotel at McCormick Place was renovated to inclide firepits, dining and lounge seating, and lush seasonal planters.
