As part of The Burnham Plan Centennial, site design group, ltd. prepared a proposal for urban agriculture as an integral part of the growth and development of the City of Chicago. The plan is to provide over 80% of fresh produce raised within City boundaries in 100 years. Food production areas are brought to the center of the City, re-engineering major access routes, adjusting neighborhood block and streets, using the lake as a harvesting resource, and encouraging urban agriculture at a local and community level.
