With the asset of Lake Michigan at it’s front door, the City of Chicago and the Chicago Park District envisioned a development along the north and south lakefronts that would capture the imagination of the world.
Land infill that would encompass acres of islands, linkages of roadway and bicycle trails, and park and recreation opportunities would increase the value of the lakefront as a whole.
Concept development of lakefront open space were prepared linking existing and proposed lakefront parks with pedestrian and bicycle routes. Development scenarios include landfill peninsulas, islands and causeways.
