ping tom park – phase two

The master plan of Phase II of Chicago’s famous riverfront park includes the siting of a new 45,000 sq. ft. field house and cultural center, roadway development and access to and around the site, the development of athletic fields, a boat storage facility and plans for a natural river edge.

The planning process included numerous public meetings, coordination between city agencies and substantial research of user activities and trends. The evolution of the master plan incorporated public input as well as allowed for flexibility in the design.

The plans evoke the sensitivity towards the Phase 1 park development that has embraced the City of Chicago and the Chinatown community.
