This five acre park serves as the focal point and main “green-space” for Peoria, Illinois’ largest public housing development. Based on a neighborhood concept of mixed rental and for-sale housing, the park spaces, streetscape treatments and parkways connect the housing types and clusters into a comprehensive and integrated community enclave.
The park serves as a community centerpiece, providing a large open green for active recreation, a perimeter pathway system that serves as an exercise trail, and several intimate gathering spaces for quiet conversation. The park provides a practical setting for the community center that is located at the west end of the open space, creating an anchor for the entire development.
