These intimate projects entailed designing and re-developing existing playground sites throughout the City of Evanston. By addressing pedestrian links into the parks, defining programmed use areas and special spaces, the public planning process encouraged design input of the park spaces. This in turn addressed security within the parks, as the reconfiguration of spaces was reinforced with the landscape development.
State-of-the-art play equipment and recycled rubber surfacing were added to upgrade and create challenging play for the neighborhood children. The transformation of these parks were further defined with new seating, site furnishings, paving and surfacing that enhanced the character of the play spaces.
The Evanston playgrounds include three separate parks, Hinman Tot Lot, Snyder Park and Eggleston Park.
