The landscape architecture and urban design for this new development at the former Cabrini-Green area was featured in Planning Magazine as a model for replacement subsidized housing communities.
The project included paving design, playground and park development as well as site identification issues and landscape. Outlining a neighborhood concept of carefully planned public spaces, efficient private outdoor space and amenities such as playgrounds and gardens, the development serves rental and for-sale housing residents.
The development serves as the model for the Chicago Housing Authority’s “Plan for Transformation”, which continues to re-develop low-income housing with a balanced neighborhood of economic, racial and cultural diversity.
